Sorry I have not blogged for ages. I had lots on before the school holidays and then I did not stop during the school holidays so blogging has been on the backburner for a while. Daniel started school last week and Thomas is now in year 2. I am hoping to blog more from now on but it maybe a while before I get in a regular routine again.
To celebrate the end of Daniel’s first week at school, we went to Toby Carvery in Quinton, Birmingham to test out their new five roast Sunday Carvery which now includes roast lamb, as well as turkey, pork, gammon, and beef. Lamb is only available on Sundays with the other four roasts available all week.
We arrived at Toby Carvery at noon and it was already getting busy. We were seated promptly and our drink orders were taken. I had a glass of rioja while Thomas had a fruit shoot and Daniel had some tap water. We went straight up to get our carvery and were served very quickly despite the queue. I was very impressed by the sheer quantity of food available on the carvery and how often the staff were filling it up. Thomas, Daniel and I all had roast lamb and roast beef with our own choice of vegetables. Peas, carrots and sweetcorn was the boy’s chosen vegetables while I had cauliflower cheese and cabbage. We all had Yorkshire Puddings, roast potatoes and stuffing. We enjoyed the lamb with our dinner as it was tender and melted in the mouth, however we all found the beef a bit chewy and fatty. All the accompaniments were lovely though and we loved the size of the Yorkshire Puddings.
Despite having a very large carvery, the boys and I did manage to find some room for dessert. Thomas and Daniel had dairy ice cream with a flake and chocolate sauce and I had the chocolate brownie which was filled with berries and served with ice cream. My brownie did look a bit uninspring when it arrived but the flavour, more than made up for its appearance.
Before leaving, we picked up a slice of Black Forest Cake and Unicorn Cake (not pictured) as part of Toby’s Cake It Away service so we could experience Toby at home. The Black Forest Cake was delcious and I will defiantely pick up another slice when we go again. Overall, I was very impressed with our meal at the Toby Carvery and I hope we can go back again soon.
