These are quick and easy naan breads that are great to make midweek with your curry. Kids will love to make them too!
Recipe type: Bread
Cuisine: Indian
Serves: 6
  • For the bread
  • 175g strong white bread flour, plus extra for dusting
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 175ml natural yoghurt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic purée
  • 2 teaspoon dried coriander (I used Gourmet Garden)
  • For the garlic and coriander butter
  • 40g butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoon garlic purée
  • Small handful of coriander leaves, chopped finely
  • Extra coriander, chopped to serve (optional)
  1. In a food processor or large mixing bowl, add in all the bread ingredients and mix until a ball of dough is formed. You may need to use your hands to press it together if not using food processor
  2. For the garlic and coriander butter, add the garlic purée and coriander into the melted butter and set aside.
  3. Place the ball of dough onto a floured surface and divide into six equal pieces
  4. Preheat a dry frying pan/griddle pan until very hot
  5. Roll each piece on a floured surface until it is about 10-15cm long and a 5-8cm wide
  6. Cook each piece of dough one at a time in the dry pan for 1-2 minutes each side until puffed up, with brown spots on them. Keep an eye on them as they go from cooked to burnt within seconds
  7. Once cooked, place on a plate and brush over the garlic and coriander butter. Place in a warm oven until required. Top with more fresh coriander when ready to serve if desired. Serve with a hot curry and a cool beer. Enjoy!
