Meal Planning Monday (10th March 2014)

A very short and sweet post this week as I am writing this while I have two sort quiet children! We mostly stuck to the meal plan last week. I just moved a couple of things round and did have a cheeky extra takeaway!! This week, I am trying to use meat from the freezer as it is getting so expensive these days. Here is what we are eating:

Monday: Steak, chips and pepper sauce

Tuesday: Glazed chicken and rice

Wednesday: Sausage casserole and mash

Thursday: Pork chow mein (A Hairy Bikers recipe for #bloggersknowbest. More information here.)

Friday: Homemade pizza

Saturday: Takeaway

Sunday: Chicken casserole and mash

Meal Planning Monday – 3rd March 2014

Sorry I did not do a meal plan last week. We were a house full of illness and I had no energy to post a meal plan, let alone do any cooking. The 7 weeks worth of sleepless nights with Daniel are catching up with me too. This week, food is simple and relatively easy to prepare. Here is the plan:

Monday: lasagna and garlic bread

Tuesday: pancakes

Wednesday: chilli con carne, rice and garlic bread

Thursday: chicken casserole, mashed potatoes and veg

Friday: to be decided

Saturday: takeaway

Sunday: roast dinner at my Nan's in Bewdley

Meal Planning Monday – 17th February 2014

This is my first meal planning post in absolutely ages! I completely lost the energy for it when heavily pregnant and stopped doing it! Now Daniel is 5 weeks old and as my maternity pay is only going to decrease now, I really need to make meal planning a habit. I am sure we will have a slip now and then. The joys of having two under three years old in the house! I also want Thomas to eat a greater variety of foods. He seems to be living on chicken nuggets and chips at the moment and that really needs to change. Tips and advice as to how I can make meal planning easier and how to get Thomas (and eventually Daniel!) to eat a wider variety of things are greatly appreciated. Here is this week's plan:

Monday: leftover beef stew

Tuesday: fishcakes, new potatoes and salad

Wednesday: takeaway

Thursday: homemade chicken chow mein

Friday: spaghetti bolognaise and garlic bread

Saturday: chicken curry, rice and naan bread

Sunday: Toad In The Hole with vegetables

Meal Planning Monday – 9th September 2013

I am really struggling with pregnancy exhaustion at the moment and have been signed off work this week and sent for a blood test because of it so meals this week are either super easy or are some of my favourite comfort foods. I hope to try more new recipes from my cookery books in the coming weeks but am deliberately keeping this week really simple. Here is the plan:

Monday: cauliflower and broccoli cheese

Tuesday: cheese and potato pie and baked beans

Wednesday: homemade pizza

Thursday: chorizo, red wine and pea risotto

Friday: takeaway

Saturday: spaghetti bolognaise cooked by hubby

Sunday: steak and onion pie, mashed potatoes and vegetables

Meal Planning Monday – 2nd September 2013

Meal Planning Monday badge

I lost my meal planning mojo during August. I have no idea where it went. I think it melted in all the warm weather we were having. However, it is September and I am back! I really must make sure I stick to my meal planning as with a second child on the way, upcoming maternity leave pay and Christmas, money will be tight over the coming months so we really need to watch our pennies. Therefore, if you do not see a meal plan post from me every week from now on, please feel free to tell me off!

This week, the majority of the meals are coming from The Hungry Student Cookbook by Charlotte Pike. Charlotte is a friend and fellow food blogger and I helped with some of the recipe testing for the three cookbooks (links below) she has recently published. A full review of the cookbooks will be coming soon once I have tried a few recipes from the books. This week’s meal plan is:

Monday: Pork, Ginger and Garlic Stir Fry with rice

Tuesday: soup and bread

Wednesday: Fish Finger Wraps and salad

Thursday: Chicken, Tomato and Mozzarella Pasta Bake with salad and garlic bread

Friday: takeaway

Saturday: salmon, new potatoes and salad

Sunday: Beef in Beer with mashed potatoes and vegetables

Bring back the summer! I am fed up of all this rain. It's horrible. You cannot do anything. I am trying to keep our menu summery but feel there may be a pot meal or two in the plan this week. Here it is:

Tuesday: soup and bread (I am going out)

Wednesday: soup and bread (I am going out again!)

Thursday: salmon, new potatoes and salad

Friday: takeaway

Saturday: chilli con carne and rice

Sunday: glazed roast chicken and vegetables (ingredients kindly being sent to me to make this from Tesco)

Meal Planning Monday – 29th July 2013

Another Monday! Time is flying by. Summer seemed to gone again now and has left us with humid, sticky, rainy weather. Although the heat and sun were driving me mad, I think I prefer it to the weather we are currently having. Here is this week's plan:

Monday: homemade pizza and garlic bread

Tuesday: soup and bread

Wednesday: gammon, egg, chips and peas

Thursday: something light as I am reviewing afternoon tea at a posh hotel in the afternoon

Friday: a curry of some description

Saturday: takeaway

Sunday: venison steaks, mash and vegetables
