The Wonderful World of Twitter

I have a confession to make…I am addicted to Twitter. I know this is nothing new and it seems to be in fashion at the moment to join Twitter and blog about it. However, I absolutely love it. I love my foodie and GIS friends who know about the subjects I enjoy and inspire me even more to keep doing stuff and increasing my knowledge. I also like the people on Twitter who just make me laugh and will chat to you about your day and make you smile if you are sad.

One of my favourite things about Twitter is the recipe sharing that goes on from people all around the world. This week, my recipe is from @frombecca who posted this recipe for Golden Crunchie Cookies about a month ago and I have been wanting to try it ever since. Last week, I finally had time to make it but it has taken over a week since I made them to put this post up.

The link to the original post is here. The recipe is below.

Golden Crunchies

2 cups self raising flour
1 level teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
125g butter
125g sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1 dessert spoon golden syrup

Heat milk, bicarb of soda and golden syrup. Beat butter and sugar until creamy then add hot liquid. Stir in sifted flour.

Drop teaspoons on a greased tray allowing room to spread. Press down with a fork. Bake in moderate oven 10 to 15 minutes. While still hot lift on to cooling rack.

(note from Becca – I make the mixture more rounded like a ball before placing on tray and pressing with a fork)

The only difference I made to this recipe is to sprinkle some sugar (I used castor sugar) on top of the cookies before baking for some extra crunch. I usually have disasters whenever I make biscuits of any kind so I was very pleased when these turned out well. A tip I would recommend is to buy the squeezable bottles of golden syrup as it stops it from going all over the kitchen. Thanks to Becca for letting me share this recipe with you, which was originally her mother’s recipe.

On a different subject, my blog has just been approved to join the Foodie Blog Roll, which has made me really happy. I am also a member of the UK Food Bloggers Association (UKFBA) which is run by @JuliaCherryPie. I am very proud to be a member of this too and I urge foodie bloggers or friends of foodie bloggers to join both. You will meet amazing people. I have!

That’s all for now, so until next time…

Happy Cooking!

What do you mean? You addicted to Twitter? I barely see any Tweets from you at all? 😉

Seriously though, these cookies looks very nice. Almost makes me wish that I did some baking myself!
